Dear Shonda,

First of all, I would like to apologize for all the ‘hate’ tweets I threw at you. I am not proud of what I did but honestly, I didn’t know how else to express my grievances. Anyways, it was not the right way to tell you how I felt and it was wrong.

Now, coming to the more important matter. I have always felt like the Mark/Lexie pairing wasn’t something you liked. Maybe because of the amount of screen time they got or probably because of the number of (repeated i.e. babies/grand-babies) struggles the characters had to go through with no real happiness at the end of the road.

But, when I read that interview of yours with Kristin D Santos, I believed what you said. Somehow, I sensed a level of genuine sadness in the way you spoke about Slexie.

For a fan like me, for whom Mark/Lexie were my first and most loved OTP (one true pairing), watching them break-up and longing for each other for almost 4 long years was not an easy journey. I was obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy because of Mark/Lexie.

Ultimately, you created Lexie; the character I (and a million others) fell in love with and you decided to put them together. For that, I thank you. I thank you for all the beautiful moments Slexie had no matter how short lived their relationship was.

Now, I won’t be watching Grey’s Anatomy anymore (I am sorry, I just can’t imagine the show carrying on without Lexie and Slexie) but thank you for letting us know that the finale happened the way it happened because of Chyler Leigh and her leaving due to personal reasons. I was mad at first because I was in the impression that you made Lexie die just for the shock value and hype.

I still don’t understand why Lexie had to die but I am glad that you, together with the Slexie fandom, also believed that they were truly meant to be. It’s sad to know that you had amazing plans for them and now, none of them will materialise. But, I would take comfort in the fact that if Chyler Leigh hadn’t left, we would’ve gotten a Slexie wedding and 3 kids of Mark/Lexie with Lexie turning out to be the amazing surgeon she deserves to be.

Once again, thanks Shonda for giving us one of the most beautiful ships (Slexie/Mexie) on TV. Please extend my thanks to the amazing Chyler Leigh for making us all fall in love with Lexie through her performance. She will be sorely missed. Not to mention, Eric Dane who is flawless as Mark Sloan.
